We’d like to invite you to a Community BBQ at the Broadway Hotel, on Sunday 27 August, from 2pm til 4pm.
This will be a chance to revive the Hotel as an important place in the neighbourhood, and get residents together to talk about what we’d like to see from the proposed development - fewer storys? Larger setbacks? Affordable housing? Stronger heritage protection?
Come and enjoy a BBQ and put forward your ideas for what you’d like to see at the Broadway Hotel. If you can, bring a plate to share, and if you’d like to help set up, feel free to meet us at 1:30pm.
The Development Application (you can read some of the details here) is still sitting with the Department of Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning, who will be making a decision regarding the heritage impacts of the development. Their decision is due on 15 August. From there the application will be assessed by Brisbane City Council.
In the meantime, I’d encourage you to call and email the relevant Ministers, Minister for Infrastructure and Planning, Jackie Trad, and the Minister for Environment and Heritage Protection, Steven Miles, and ask them to ensure that they make public their opposition to the current plan.
See you on Sunday 27 August for the Community BBQ!
