Snap Action - Davies Park Deserves Better

Developers have come back with a Davies Park proposal that is still way above neighbourhood height limits. So, we're relaunching pressure on the council – send a quick email submission here.

But we know this won’t be enough – the council could easily push through the development citing that enough changes were made that address community concerns. We need to make it absolutely clear to the Council that we won’t stop at submissions and angry letters - the community are ready to disrupt work when they don’t meet our demands.

It’s also time that we let other companies within the local development industry that we won’t let them off the hook if they support dodgy developments. Local company, Hanson Concrete, supplies concrete to many development projects in the area. Their proximity to these sites makes these developments even more profitable, and making our area more attractive to multinational developers.

Hanson wants to be a good neighbour, but to do this they need to back the community. They need to start refusing to work on projects that have widespread community opposition, like this one next to Davies Park.

So join us for a snap action on Saturday 18 June. We’ll start in Davies Park, Corner of Jane Street and Montague and march down Montague Road to Hanson Concrete on Hockings Street. We’ll peacefully block their driveway to send a clear message to any local companies thinking about working on this project  – and the Council – that if this development goes ahead, the community will make it very hard for all involved.

We also need volunteers to help make a banner for the day and delivering flyers to the neighbourhood - if you can help make sure you tick the volunteer box and then fill out the details on the page you’re redirected to!
