The Labor government recently announced that East Brisbane State School will be closed, there will be no school in the catchment, and EBSS kids will eventually be moved to the Coorparoo Secondary College site – the complete opposite of what our community has called for.
So what are our campaign's next steps?
Public opinion has been turning against the Gabba rebuild. More and more Queenslanders are questioning why $2.7 billion of public money should be wasted on rebuilding a stadium. And we just saw the Victorian Government pull out of the entire Commonwealth Games.
Labor wants us to believe the Gabba Olympics rebuild is a done deal, that it can’t be stopped – but that simply isn’t true. We're just a year out from a state election – opening up more opportunities for us to put the pressure on Labor to back down from this ridiculous proposal.
Join us for a free dinner and a chat with your neighbours about where to from here for our campaign to save East Brisbane State School and Raymond Park.
And if you haven't already, please sign the parliamentary petition to save East Brisbane State School and to scrap the $2.7 billion Gabba demolition and rebuild and save Raymond Park.
