Community Forum: Preparing high-density communities for the next flood

This event's RSVPs are full! But please get in touch if you have any questions.

The February 2022 floods were devastating for many in our community. Apartment complexes along the river in places like West End, South Brisbane and Kangaroo Point were hit hard, with long power outages, flooded basements, and destroyed internal infrastructure.

As climate change intensifies, our community is staring down more frequent and intense flooding events.

So as we prepare for another wet summer ahead we want to bring together as many local body corporates as possible to talk about flood readiness in apartments.

---- Update ----

We've combined our forum with Resilient Kurilpa. A really proactive local body corporate, Riverpoint, is going to share with us all their comprehensive Flood Mitigation Plan – how they have prepared their apartment complex for the next flood. This will be an invaluable resource for other body corporates and apartment dwellers in the area.

Councillor Jonathan Sriranganathan, myself and Federal MP Max For Griffith will still be joining and will be there to share any information that will be helpful. We'll also be there to chat to locals about any issues we aren't aware of and get feedback on our flood response.

This will be a great opportunity for body corporates to talk about what their buildings are doing to prepare and to share knowledge with one another.
