Community Forum: Flood readiness in Woolloongabba, East Brisbane and Norman Park

Please note the updated time from what was in our community newsletter! This forum will now run from 10am-12pm

The February 2022 floods were devastating for many in our community. Residents who live near Norman Creek in Woolloongabba, East Brisbane and Norman Park were hit hard.

As climate change intensifies, our community is staring down more frequent and intense flooding events. So as we prepare for another wet summer ahead we want to bring together as many local residents as possible to talk about flood readiness for our community.

Join your local representatives, State MP Amy MacMahon and Federal MP Max Chandler-Mather for a community forum about what we can do to prepare for the next flood.

We’ll share everything we’ve learnt about the issues we’re aware of from the last flood – from backflow valves, through to energy infrastructure – but mostly we want to hear from you:

- What issues don’t we know about?
- What did we do last time that was useful and what else would you like to see us do next flood?
- What key issues should we be advocating to all levels of government on?
- What else can we be doing as a community now to prepare for another disaster?

East Brisbane Community Centre is wheelchair accessible via the back gate, please get in touch with Amy MacMahon's office if you need more details or any assistance with accessibility. We will be indoors in an enclosed space, so please wear a mask if you can, we will have spares available on the day!
