How we fix the homelessness crisis

Queensland is in a housing crisis. And our weak rental laws are only making things worse.

Currently in Queensland, renters have little protection from rent hikes or “no grounds” evictions, and have little rights when it comes to things as simple as putting up picture hooks, having a dog or installing child safety barriers.

In the last three years rents have gone up $216 a week, while house prices have increased by almost 55%.

Whether you’re impacted yourself, worried about your kids’ future, or worried about the tents popping up across the city, I know most people in our community agree that we need serious action to tackle the housing crisis.

That’s why Max Chandler-Mather, MP for Griffith, and I are hosting a community forum to talk about the housing crisis and how we can fix it.
